Project Overview
The Namal University Agri Business Building achieved LEED Gold certification through exceptional performance across water efficiency, energy optimisation, and indoor environmental quality. As a 44,500 sq.ft. educational facility situated within the Namal University campus in Mianwali, this project demonstrates that world-class sustainability performance is achievable in emerging market educational contexts, delivering measurable environmental outcomes at certification while creating healthy, high-performance learning environments.
Water efficiency was the standout performance category, achieving a perfect 11 out of 11 points, every available water credit earned. The facility integrates comprehensive water metering, efficient indoor fixtures, and optimised landscape irrigation strategies. Energy performance earned 18 out of 18 points for Optimise Energy Performance, complemented by 3 out of 3 for on-site renewable energy production and 3 out of 3 for enhanced commissioning, demonstrating a fully integrated energy strategy spanning design optimisation, renewable generation, and verified system performance.
SIDEworks' role encompassed LEED certification management, value engineering, energy modeling, and commissioning support. The value engineering methodology identified the highest-impact sustainability interventions at each project stage, optimising certification performance while maintaining cost discipline appropriate to an educational institution operating as a social enterprise.
